SOUTHERN REIMAGINED™
A BLOG FROM THE DEWBERRY
November 07, 2017 In Charleston, Sociables became a weekend punctuation point long before the existence of Sunday brunch (or brunch at all, for that matter). Born of a gone-era dining tradition known as Sunday Supper, in which an expansive mid-day feast satiated morning hunger and staved off evening pangs, Sociables functioned as a sort of pre-meal progressive cocktail party. An excuse for social calls, noontime revelry, and preening in Sunday Best (whether you had actually attended the sermon was beside the point), Sociables were a defined by an implicit commitment to hospitality—you knew if you came knocking, your host would have an eye-opener ready upon arrival. The Dewberry has revived this beloved local custom—and added a soundtrack of live jazz to amplify the occasion. Come raise a glass with us on the Second Sunday of each month.Join Us for Sociables
